Malpractice award caps


Two-thirds of the statewide public favor capping the amount of money juries in PA can award for "pain and suffering" in malpractice cases.

Sixty-eight percent favor amending the state Constitution to provide for such a cap in malpractice cases, while 24% oppose such a cap. Even minorities, who have traditionally opposed these kinds of limits, tend to favor the cap. Non-whites favor the cap by a margin of 57% to 34%, whites by 69% vs. 22%.
