Scorecard data for  State and Local Tax Burdens

Property Taxes as Percent of Total School District Taxes, 1992-2002

Property taxes as a percent of total local school taxes measures the average degree of reliance on property taxes among Pennsylvania’s school districts.

The level of dependence on property taxes changed very little from 1992 through 2002. This means school districts consistently balanced the different revenue sources available to them. These statewide averages are not representative of any one school district; significant differences likely exist across the state.
